Dyadic Expands Pulp and Paper Initiatives
New Personnel Additions to Support Growing Worldwide Trials
JUPITER, Fla
July 25, 2005
Dyadic International, Inc. (AMEX: DIL), a biotechnology company, announced today that it has hired Charles W. (Bill) Kling IV as Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Enzymes. In addition to Mr. Kling, Dyadic also hired four additional technical sales representatives to support the company's global effort in pulp and paper.
Mr. Kling will head up Dyadic's Enzyme Business sales and marketing efforts with particular focus on pulp and paper, and will report to Kent Sproat, Executive Vice President, Enzymes. Mr. Kling is a veteran of the pulp and paper industry, where he has successfully introduced a number of new products during his 27-year career. He joins Dyadic directly from Hercules, Inc., where he was Group Manager of the Pulp and Paper division and was responsible for a staff of over 60 people. From 1990 to 1998 he served as Global Director, Technical Marketing, at BetzDearborn, Inc.'s Pulp and Paper division. Prior to that he was employed by Scott Paper and Buckeye Cellulose, a division of Proctor and Gamble, Inc.
Dyadic estimates the addressable market for its existing enzyme products in the pulp and paper industry and potential enzyme products for the pulp and paper industry currently in its research and development pipeline to be in excess of $1.0 billion. Currently, the company's enzymes are undergoing trials in a number of paper companies throughout the world. The trials seek to evaluate the economic impact Dyadic's products have on the bleach-boosting, bio-refining and de-inking processes. Some of these potential improvements include significant cost-savings in the use of chemicals and energy, improvements in paper quality, and reduction in effluent streams.
"The addition of Bill Kling and the new sales personnel comes on the heels of our recent hiring of Dr. Dan Michalopoulos as Vice President, Pulp and Paper division. This further demonstrates our commitment to expand into the pulp and paper industry around the world," commented Mark Emalfarb, Dyadic's Chief Executive Officer. "As we continue to execute our pulp and paper business plan, we also continue to seek other large, proprietary opportunities, where our products and technologies can serve as a key element in our customers' processes or product flow."
