Biofinishing is the use of cellulase – typically acid cellulase – to remove surface hair from fabrics and garments. The garments may be hairy as a result of garment dyeing or other wet processing. Some fabrics tend to be hairy because of their construction.
Fibers like Tencel are hairy by design, and fabrics or garments can be fibrillated and de-fibrillated to create new surface effects. Dyadic has developed the BioACE series – specialized acid cellulases for the biofinishing of fabrics. |
